36,560 died in auto crashes in the US in 2018, down slightly from the recent high of 37,806 reached in 2016. 1972 was the worst year for American highway carnage. By January 2007 25 states and the District of Columbia had primary seat belt laws. Meaning that 25 didn’t. Oh freedom!

47 people died from vaping in the US in 2019.

No one is talking about banning cars. We willingly sacrifice tens of thousands to the god of private transportation. The article talks about “preventable deaths.” Are automobile “accident” deaths considered preventable?
