AI would have to want to kill us all, that is, have desires. Human desires are the result of millions of years of animal evolution. Desire for food, mates, power (which ensures a supply of food and mates), continued existence (fear of death) etc. If we are dumb enough to imbue AI with desire and fear of death, we deserve to be be extincted.
