I am sorry for your loss.

All the same my phone is downstairs in the kitchen and turned off every night. Also during Aikido class. And church. Also turned off or in silent and Do Not Disturb* mode during choir rehearsals, unless it’s one where I need to make recordings.

Whatever happens during those times I don’t want to know until later, or until the morning. If it’s an emergency, like an asteroid strike, I’ll know about it soon enough one way or another.

*Silent mode is not enough because as I discovered — to my embarrassment — at an important dress rehearsal. Alarms set and forgotten may clang through.
