Anti-vaccine propaganda has been making people sick and killing them all over the place. Here in the US before COVID we thought we had defeated measles but then there were outbreaks in California and other places spread by unvaccinated children visiting theme parks. These were not Trumper parents either. Anti-vaxerism in the US began on the left.

If COVID-19 were as contagious as measles we would all be in even deeper shit — but then maybe people would be frightened enough to listen. The question is what would they listen to?

With COVID-19 we are getting it from both sides. Traditional lefty anti-vaxers plus the new Trumpy anti-vaccine brigade.

Even among people who I would have thought knew better I’m hearing “it changes your DNA” and “these vaccines are experimental, we are being used as guinea pigs.”

We can only pray that truth will prevail.

I remember getting the polio vaccine as a child. In those days children were ending up crippled or even dead. There were kids in school with withered arms, or in wheelchairs, or on crutches. Frightened parents reached for hope. I recall that my parents knew some people who wouldn’t get their kids vaccinated. They considered such people complete idiots. So I can see the origin of my own attitudes.
