As a child I was very much afraid of spiders but now not so much. I find them creepy looking and I would never get one of those pet store tarantulas, but if my wife is being creeped out by one I trap it and release it outside.

I’m more afraid of accidentally squashing one because on some level I believe the superstition that it is bad luck to kill a spider.

Let a spider run alive.

Other insects such as ants, flies, cockroaches, and wasps though if they are in the house & I can get them they are a smear on the wall.

Oh that’s right. Spiders are not insects. Creepy-crawlies then.
