Bees busy with flowers will not sting unless you grab them.
I recall digging a a shallow trench for my father in a sandy expanse of, I don't know what flowering plant, but there were bees everywhere!
I didn't get stung. Nor was I afraid because by that time I knew the ways of bees.
That said I have been stung so many times I don't remember them all, except the ones in the eye or the inside of the mouth. You don't forget something like that. From the bee's point of view that's the idea, and it explains why yellowjackets deliberately target your eyes.
