Breakthrough cases don’t help the reputation of the vaccines but they should. I’m 71 & had a breakthrough case but it barely touched me. I wouldn’t have known it was COVID-19 but that I got tested the day after my symptoms eased, that is, two days after they started. The rapid fooled me by being negative. 2 days later my PCR came back positive. Moral: don’t hang your hat on that rapid antigen test if you had symptoms.
But back to the vaccines: I am so glad I am vaccinated because at 71 COVID could be a real shit show but instead well I’ve had colds that were worse. Now after vaccination, infection, and the booster I’m pretty well set but I found I still can’t bear to sing with my church choir even though all are vaccinated & sing masked. Too crowded in the choir stalls. Freaked me the fuck out, I had to walk away.
