By demonstrating beyond doubt that, at the level of atoms and sub-atomic particles at least, reality is incomprehensible to our human intuition, isn't quantum mechanics telling us something very deep and profound indeed? That our intuitive perception of the world is at variance to whatever the world in itself actually is, so we can never hope to grasp it except through complex mathematics, which make no intuitive sense?

We get the same thing from astrophysics. The numbers involved in it are so large that they no longer make sense, they may as well be infinite, but the science says the universe is not infinite.

As humans we can't get our minds around infinity, leading me to the conclusion (and mind you I'm a guy who attends church every Sunday) that if God is truly merciful then when we die it's lights out. What the fuck would we do with infinity as in never ending life? It would just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on. We'd hate it. See my https://muddyum.net/death-935092c51c82.

Some day I'll buttonhole the priest and see what he, or she, depending on who I buttonhole, thinks about this.
