Except that cancer is not a consequence of human actions. Individual decisions such as smoking may influence our chances but the fact of cancer being there in the first place, along with COVID-19, earthquakes, and a host of other natural phenomena indicate that, assuming God created everything etc, indicate that God deliberately created such instruments of human misery along with the world. To ascribe that to "the fall" seems like blaming the victim.
The way I usually answer this is to say that human caused evil is the result of the fact that if we couldn't choose evil we would not be free. Natural evil exists because the human race would not be happy without it. I know that sounds insane but think about it. If we had nothing to do but, as Dostoyevsky put it, "eat cakes and busy [ourselves] with the procreation of the species," would we be happy? Only for a while. We need challenges to overcome in order to be truly happy. That is true on the individual as well as the species level.
Another reason we can't seem to shake this problem may our insistence on the facticity of God, as if God were a pencil, a bagel, or something like that.
