For the same reason America can’t stop nit-picking this shit. Yeah, I don’t have my mask on 100% of the time when I’m out of the house. But it’s always around my neck when I go anywhere because I’m going to need it sometime. When my wife and I go for a walk if someone is approaching us we flip our masks on. I have a bunch of cool looking 3-ply cotton masks that I made so I always have a clean one when I want to go anywhere. You can get 4 or 5 or even 6 out of a yard, depending on how generous the cutter is feeling at JoAnn Fabrics that day. Masks are required in JoAnn because this is Rhode Island and masks are required in all stores and we cooperate because we care about each other. If somebody started being a dick about it they’d probably be jumped by the other customers and thrown out on their big stupid ass.
But because this is idiot America somebody just has to go into a snit and whine something like oh I don’t need it when I’m on my bike, hiking, whatever. OK. When I set out from my house on my bike it’s around my neck. At first there’s almost no pedestrians and light traffic so I can easily take the lane and give the 2 or 3 people I pass way more than 6 feet and we are outside anyway. State guidelines around here call for masking outside only when closer than 6 feet. Anyway when I’m getting into Providence I put it on because there are more pedestrians, the traffic is trickier, and I pass through communities of color so I want to show respect and regard for the fact that they are getting hammered in particular.
So. I’ve gone on entirely too long but get or make yourself some cool looking masks and show everyone that you care.
Awesome mask materials I got at JoAnn.
