Funny story, or maybe I should say reasonably amusing: When I took Java with a bunch of other engineering students the prof started talking about “Oolair” (accent on 2nd syllable). When we looked confused he started say something about not believing that we hadn’t heard of Oolair. He turned and wrote “Euler” on the board and we all like, “Oh, You-ler!” (Accent on first syllable.) The guy had heavy French accent and was always cruising the (small number of) young women in the class.
