Good idea, as long as the writers wouldn’t know who is giving them what. In the clap based system you knew, sort of, who was supporting you financially, but in the new system you don’t. I’d kind of like to leave it that way, because I like that my feelings toward people in my network are based entirely on my interactions with them and on their writing.
One downside of the system you are proposing is that then I would have to decide something every time I read something, and that would get old. So far the new way is working out for me roughly as well as the old clap based way (as in pathetically, but improving) so I’m in no hurry to change it. If I read a story it amounts to me paying it about 2 or 3 cents a minute. I read a piece where somebody worked it out. If I’m bored with something I stop reading it. One problem with the current system is that if I finish something or even read some of it, I am supporting it even if I hate what they said or are saying. But I can live with that.
