Great story, and so true to life. May seems something like Allen (in My Mom Knows Everything) in that it was pushed on her but she derived pleasure from it.

With my first serious girlfriend I was more of a Carl but she broke up with me anyway because our making out was getting steamier and steamier. Later my mom told me that she had confided that she "didn't think she could satisfy you as a wife." My mom went on, "So she did you a favor. After all, you don't need a frigid wife." She was anything but frigid though, just scared, but I didn't get it. Interestingly this past weekend at a memorial for a deceased cousin one of my (living) cousins revealed to me, after prodding, that my girlfriend had confided the same to her. She must have been pretty stirred up to have confided in two of my family members.
