Growing up I hear that one and a host of similar ones. I even used them before I reached the age of understanding. But long after our parents corrected us I kept hearing some of the other kids using those kinds of terms. One of them moved away and when I called him a few years later, I think I was in high school, he started telling me how much fun he and his new friends had burning crosses on black people's lawns. I never spoke to him again. I don't even want to think about what he might be doing now.
