Human intelligence evolved biologically, bottom up. AI is electronic and designed, that is, top down. Being so fundamentally different, is there any reason to suppose that it ever could be made sentient? Yet it would need to be in order to experience malice. So in the absence of truly sentient AI, is there any reason to sweat it? Sentient AI is like fully autonomous vehicles in that both are like the horizon, always at least 3 miles off, however we might think we are closing the distance.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it, but it’s fun to write about.
