I agree with you but starting off with that comment about Christianity being under threat in the US would have put me off had I not decided to hate-read what I assumed would be yet another whine about the decline of Christian privilege, as if the power of Christianity in American politics was actually declining. Like you said, albeit not in so many words, one cannot serve both God and mammon. But such service certainly has continued for a long time, so rather than collapse Christianity will continue to pervert itself.
