I am so sorry about your wife. I don't know how I would cope if I lost Maxine. Now that we are both in our 70s I think about it more and more. Somebody has to die first.
As in your case Maxine and I settled out the big chores early on.
Me: Vacuuming & washing the kitchen floor, dishes, lawn mowing.
Her: shopping, laundry.
It all works out because I hate shopping and laundry, and she hates doing dishes and vacuuming. Neither of those things bothers me much. I listen to podcasts and audio books while I am vacuuming. We have been married 33 years.
Cooking is shared and I maintain her kosher practices even if she is not looking, out of respect for her traditions.
