I had a spontaneous lung collapse in my 30s but then I'm a guy. A long way from my teens but a guy.
Thankfully I had competant doctors. Lots of mordantly funny stuff happened, like when the doctor was about to to do the initial re-inflation he said to me, "Almost all patients find this part of it very distressing. In fact many report that they felt as if they were dying. But don't worry. No one ever dies during this part of the treatment."
How encouraging.
He was right though. I believe I have a better idea than most people what being waterboarded must be like.
