I had visitors from the UK some time after the 2016 election. One of them started bemoaning the stupidity of Brexit. I replied that we in the US can't bear to allow the bits to outdo us in anything, including stupidity, so we elected Trump.
And now we are at it again. You may have unpalatable candidates, but one of ours is a convicted criminal.
