I have some background with that sort of thing. If we ever meet up IRL, remind me to tell you of my time attending black churches in Brooklyn. That's were I first encountered gospel music, which became a lifelong thing for me, except during my Wiccan years, and even though the church I now attend is a good deal more sedate. I've written about it but not in some time. I've become accustomed to being white in black spaces.
