I take to heart Nadia Bolz-Weber when she says we (Christians) have a better story. In the capitalist story your worth is defined by your possessions, and you can never have enough so you can never BE enough. Just endlessly pile up THINGS, an endless persuit of emptiness. But the Christian story tells us God values us so highly that he came down here to suffer with us, nay, to endure the worst humanity had to offer, in order to try to redeem us, to teach us how to use the free will we won in the garden of Eden for something other than destruction, for something larger than ourselves: the whole of humanity. So yeah. I'll keep going to church and immersing myself in that story. The music is good too.
