I totally disagree, because of the prevalence of dyslexia.

I don’t have many problems because for me to go 25mph requires a goodly downhill slope. I slow up behind the inconsiderate pedestrians who have scatted themselves across both lanes and say something like, “uh, folks?” then go through whatever path they clear for me. In the case of a single person with their back to me (meaning they are on the WRONG SIDE) I just go around unless they are walking erratically. Gotta watch those waving their arms all over the place as they gab away on their cell phones.

If pedestrians are on the correct side they will be facing the cyclists, who will go around them. We’ll do all the mental calculations needed to avoid the cyclists coming up in the other lane, thank you. Just keep walking and stay in your lane.

Don’t switch lanes to make way for me! You may be stepping directly into the path of an oncoming velodromaniac. I’ll do the switching. Just keep walking at pace. I got this.
