I used to give up Facebook for Lent, then last year I didn’t go back. Too much silliness, in addition to everything you mentioned. This year I gave up Medium for Lent. That was hard, especially in that I had to give up so much else because of the pandemic.

Facebook brought a few positive changes to my life. I reconnected with an old friend who had remained so and is now on Medium. I met and bonded in physical space with someone who I did not previously know except on Facebook. We had in common having been betrayed, lied to by someone we trusted.

On the whole though, the bad outweighed the good as far as I was concerned.
