I was already familiar with that history from my many years with Wicca. It is central to the Wiccan victimization myth in fact.
When I returned to Christianity as a result of, well, let's skip that long story, I found Nadia Bolz-Weber and other preachers of the gospel of radical acceptance and inclusion and ultimately found a church which does a good enough job with that and which has a gorgeous church building and music program to go with it. I am continually surprised at how many congregants here are aware of the intimate connection of Christianity with Greco-Roman paganism.
