I'm a believer but I am happy with the notion that life on earth arose as a result of natural processes. The reason I'm a believer is that I recognize that reason and logic are very fine things, but they comprise only a small part of our internal lives. The rest is emotional and part of that is spiritual. As a human being spiritually is part of my heritage, and I choose to claim that heritage. The mode along which I claim it is Christian, specifically the American Episcopal church. I grew up in it, and its respect for the importance of ritual and symbol satisfies the love for the same I developed through my long practice of Wicca. Since logic had little to do with it in a basic sense I have little need to bolster my faith with proofs and demonstrations.
