In my church they are saying don’t touch during The Peace. And we are on the east coast of the US, for fuck’s sake. I’ll go along with it because I don’t want to cause anyone anxiety. But I think it’s stupid.

I had another thought though.

Articles like this one come out like clockwork every time there is a scary but personally unlikely threat out there, like terrorism or new diseases. But what if evolution got this right for reasons we don’t yet understand? We could have evolved to perceive and respond to mundane but real threats. You don’t need advanced math in order to work out what they are. But as a species we didn’t, and we survive. Evolution is like a simulation run by some super-civilization out of The Three-Body Problem but we are not looking at what it is telling us. If I’m on to something then even the anti-vaxers — I note that, (like clockwork), you netted one among your respondents —will get to have their day.
