In my high school, in the 1960s, naked gang showers were de rigueur. There was an old gym teacher nearing retirement whose job it was to "monitor" the situation. I thought nothing of it at the time, but years later I wondered about that guy.

I hated every aspect of gym except weight-lifting. I was reasonably strong, despite which I was bullied relentlessly, especially in the locker room.
