It is important to remember that as of the present, string theory remains untested because it doesn't make testable predictions. I read this whole thing even though usually when I encounter someone trying to pull spiritually out of quantum mechanics (which by the way DOES make testable predictions as does relativity: both have aced such tests over and over) I stop reading. Are you aware that the "spin" of a sub atomic particle is not like the spin of a top? It's not like it's whirling around. We don't know what the fuck is happening but it has a property physicists have labeled "spin." It's something like the "color" of quarks.
In the case of the strings of string theory they may or may not exist at all, whatever a "vibration" means in the case of something hypothesized to exist at a Planck level of size.
But all that's cool. I consider music and how profoundly it can affect our Iives and emotions (sort of the same thing) and how profoundly it has affected mine and I can only wonder. Schopenhauer is credited (by Cormac McCarthy) with the claim that music will outlast the world. That seems true even though it is illogical that there could be music in the absence of human beings. Maybe God is trying to tell me something.
