It may depend on who exactly you are talking about. I spoke to my sister recently, and she didn't seem angry. But that may be because we have a tacit agreement never to talk about politics or religion, because we both know nothing good could come of it.
I'm sure she thinks I'm on the highway to Hell because I accept the theory of evolution by natural selection, among other reasons.
If I had brought up politics it would have lead to an argument and I have no interest in arguing with her.
But yeah, the true believers don't seem happy. They don't know how to be happy, and because anger is central to their identity, they don't want to be happy.
My sister is raising two of her grandchildren, whom she wrested away from their mother. The mother didn't help herself much. They were living in a tree house and not going to school. Well now they are living in a nice suburban home and not going to school. My sister is home schooling them. I am sure they will remain ignorant of the basics of contemporary biology, among other things.
I don't know about you, but I can't think of anything cooler than to have been raised in a tree house, all other things being equal.
I guess I strayed far from my point again, sorry.
