It's such a sad world. People are caught up in things.
306,000 French soldiers died in battle the Napoleonic wars. Plus another 36,000 French allied soldiers. Plus another 800,000 of both groups killed by accidents, or died of wounds, or of disease. Plus 600,000 civilians died.
And that's just in the French empire.
For what? The political arrangements extant when it ended were soon swept away. Napoleon's "genius" tactics are irrelevant in the modern era of mechanized war.
