I’ve been a registered Democrat all my life because the positions taken by that party align in a general way with my own. Sometimes the party seems slow to get on board with things such as LGBTQ rights, but they get there. So I’m like, warts and all. I think Donald Trump is the inevitable outcome outcome of the the general direction taken over the years by the Republican party, only now they’ve become total whores giving up traditional Republican values like free trade in exchange for the support of idiot America. In a sense Trump is an independent who hijacked the Republican party like Sanders tried to do to the Democratic party so there you go. Trump is also inspiring, to his base anyway. Obama was inspiring but a lot of people simply projected their progressive dreams onto a man who never pretended to be anything other than what he was — a centrist Democrat, so they were disappointed. I heard a lot of crabbing about Obama from my progressive friends who went on to pile on Hillary Clinton. The rest is history. Anyway, perfection does not exist in the real world, and a two party system is what we have.
