Living in the fear of AIDS is as freaky as all get out, especially back before AZT. One of my besties got the test and received a false positive. In the days when this went down (the 1980s) the test was not so accurate and you always got a follow up, especially in the case of a positive. But while she waited for the follow up she was sure as shit freaking out.

The reason she got the test was that her ex came down with full blown AIDS, so she had been in considerable risk. Her ex was also my best buddy, and some thought he got it from me because a year or so before I had separated from my first wife & tried sex with guys for a while, sans condoms, and this buddy and I used to greet each other with extravagant deep kisses because we liked starting rumors.

That got complicated fast! Anyway she got a negative on the follow up, and now it’s been like 30 years since all that went down. No one knew where my buddy got it from.
