My daughter was the right age for the books when they started coming out. She gobbled each one down as it came out. Sometimes we had to guide her down the street because she was trying to walk and read at the same time.
She left her copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on my bed, similar to the way I left, for example, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe on hers. I began reading them and found them immensely entertaining. Serious literature they are not. If you want serious read War and Peace.
When the movies started coming out I got about 10 minutes into the first one, said, "This sucks." and that was that. Now everyone worries about her being a TERF. I really don't care.
