Nobody says mister any more, say, in stores or other such ‘essential’ venues. I don’t interact with strangers very often in these days. Store clerks use sir. Someone saying mister sans last name is usually an indication of rising hostility. “Where do you think you’re going, mister?” That sort of thing.

By the way did the link in my response to your other response work? Curious because Android links created in the Medium story editor to other Medium content can be funky.
