Amount of water, amount of money, amount of time. But for countables it’s number. Men is countable otherwise we wouldn’t have a census. Yes I’m going on a grammar-nazi rant but it drives me almost as crazy as the precieved laziness of others evidently drives you. It’s like saying less people. You wouldn’t say fewer water, would you? You wouldn’t say number of money either. You would say number of dollar bills but not number of money. Or would you? Amount of men is right in the subtitle, so maybe you would.
