This explains why so many want to attribute COVID-19 to some human failure such as a lab leak. If, as is most likely, it resulted from the mindless churning of the natural world, then we are well and truly fucked. If we were to last, through the operation of some miracle or another, 5 billion years, the sun will swallow us. The earth will become uninhabitable long before that.
