Protecting oneself from crime by caring a gun is such a fool’s errand. I hope he’s still OK, since statistically he’s far more likely to shoot himself with it than to protect himself from a crime.

I don’t own any guns for that very reason — that in the absence of immediate threat they are just too dangerous to have around. Also expensive. There is also the fact that everyone I’ve ever known who was into guns was at least a little bit of a jerk.
