Recently I've been thinking something like, "Lord God, if you want to take me now, that would be OK. It's been fun. Just don't drag it out, OK?" Some people would miss me, but I trust they will move on.
The core thought is "It's been fun." Do I have to wait until it stops being fun? That seems like such a cheat.
As for what happens next, I can’t escape the conclusion that if God is truly merciful as everyone says, when we die it's lights out. Human beings are not built for eternity. It would kill us.
I've been trying to write about this, glancing at it in some of my recent pieces, but I need a good way in. I realized that after rereading a draft that is basically expository and thinking, "Now that's boring."
