Accusing a scientist of flip-flopping is idiotic. Scientists who are in the unenviable position of making public recommendations change them in response to the evolving situation. Only pig-headed people refuse to change their minds about what to do as a situation changes. That is what has made Donald Trump so destructive in fact. You provide nothing to back up your assertions. A brief search of reputable news outlets showed me him saying, in September and October, the very opposite of what you say he said. As for March, another respondent to your article explains that situation in considerable detail so there is no need for me to get into that.
He did say “A national mandate probably would not work,” on Sept 15 during a news conference with Vermont Gov. Phil Scott, but that is not the same as saying it’s not needed, but more of an admission that in this nation of idiots it probably would not work. Then 5 days ago he said that such a mandate might be necessary anyway in view of the recent spike in cases.
