So glad you are finding your way out of that tunnel.

When my first wife ran away with my best friend, taking our toddler son with her, maxed out my credit cards (and had the utter cheek to bitch about it when she and her new boyfriend got up to the register with another load of crap and discovered that I had canceled the card) then went on welfare — good-for-nothing being unable to support them — so that the state came after me for child support, I was so enraged that I fairly lapped up the schadenfreude when he turned abusive. (Not my proudest moment.) But she wrote to me (no email in those days) asking for airfare so that she could GTFO and I thought hey small price to pay to be reunited with my son.

Fast forward to the present. That toddler is a grownup and married. Not only am I friends with my ex but my current (2nd) wife and love-of-my-life is friends with her also.

But you no doubt noticed that I have little trouble rekindling the old pique when I think about the whole thing. While it never goes away completely, nothing brings a greater sigh of relief than letting go of all that anger. Do keep the faith!
