Speaking as a Christian believer, what l find troubling is the strenuous effort to insist the Christianity stands apart from all other spiritual paths, and as such can claim the status of the One True Religion. This claim was ever the justification for the cruelties perpetrated by the institutional church through the ages.
Why are so many of us so anxious to run away from any similarity between Christianity and other spiritual paths? If we could get over ourselves maybe we could recognize our kinship with the rest of humanity and begin to unwind our cruel history. This is surely what Jesus would want, that we repent the past and walk forward into a new day following his teachings of love and caring.
