Surely we should not be surprised. In the early days of the internet optimists were banging on about how “democratizing” it would be, yet we now see how it has enabled the rise of authoritarians. It can be fairly said that is democratization — it’s just that the majority are knaves and fools. Even so we should not be surprised when AI amplifies knavery and folly to yet undreamed of decibel levels.
