Thank you for the tips. I set up a Mastadon account but was so underwhelmed I may just delete it and start over. Maybe by employing your suggestions I could get something useful going. I put a lot of effort into developing a community on Medium and that paid off in non-monetary ways. It pays for itself with enough left over for a slice of pizza, maybe 2 on a good month, but the real reason I'm addicted is that I like to read and write, and I found a community by doing so.
