I’ve been in the same room where it was playing, and remember thinking, “why would anybody watch this? Who cares what happens to these vapid assholes?”

Somehow the things that everyone is talking about lose me. I couldn’t make it through the second episode of The Tiger King. I was like, “why should I watch this bullshit? The fake interviews, fake tension, the total assholes. It’s just a bad reality show*.”

My wife and I decided to watch Shitt’s Creek. Midway into the third episode we looked at each other and said, “This isn’t even a little bit funny. It’s just stupid.” That was it.

If it’s comedy, give me writers who are actually clever and funny. If it’s drama intended to grip me, give me a good story and characters I come to care about. If you really want to hook me expose them to mortal danger and add plenty of automatic weapons fire.
