The making of this point is the first sign that the speaker/writer is full of it. Any first or second year engineering student knows that it is not necessary to melt them, only to soften them, which happens at a much lower temperature. I used to make this point on Facebook back when I was on Facebook, but to no avail. I would be invariably directed to some bullshitty YouTube video.
