They also cannot help but pose greater danger to pedestrians and cyclists because of the incredible and unreasonable hight of the grill. It's like a brick wall careening down the road. In the case of a "normal' car (I'm afraid SUVs are the new normal) you can be thrown onto the hood and even slide up onto and over the roof, so the impact of the crash will be distributed in time, resulting in less severe injuries. Not so with that careening wall. It's just one big splat.
Therefore an SUV absent real need is a statement that you just don't give a flying fuck about other people.
