True enough, but it has also brought us to the brink of our own destruction, and in more than one way. For example, it brought us plastic. That turned out to be the basis for the modern world of technology. But think of the microscopic bits of plastic that increasingly permeate the oceans, and how they continue to break into smaller and smaller bits, being ingested by helpless tiny life forms. These form the basis of our continued existence. If the creation of plastic were to cease worldwide right now, the process would continue for what, hundreds of years? Thousands? Are we not in the position of a suicide who has second thoughts after jumping, or after kicking away the stool?
Humans cultures existed sustainably for millenia. Yes, science has ushered in a more pleasant and interesting life for our species, but at what cost?
