When I was in Kindergarten we had actual steel saws to cut actual wood with.
My daughter waited for the school bus at the end of the street alone. Some people though I was nuts. On the next street down there were parents who drove their little darling to the bus stop: a distance of maybe 75 feet, then waited until the bus took them away.
Those same parents pick their kids up at the bus stop and drove them home. I ask you, who is nuts? My daughter walked from where the bus let her off to our house, maybe 75 feet. One day I wondered where she was and walked up to find her playing in the sand beside the street. I was going to let her stay there but she opted to come home.
As an adult she has built her own life and displayed remarkable resilience when faced with adult problems such as job loss. I'm really proud of her.
