When we are out shopping together my My wife and I often start goofy conversations with each other in order to get a laugh out of the clerk, engaging them also if they seem to be enjoying our antics, which is nearly universal. My wife ends by pointing out that this our job, to lighten people’s days with our antics. My preference is not to break the fourth wall like that, but it’s OK.
