Yeah, OK, but I don’t think the past was as idyllic as you make it out to be. Still, it is correct that we evolved for in-person communication. On line we don't get the immediate feedback, the scowling faces, the tut-tuts, the encouraging expressions, looks of surprise, etc etc that show(ed?) us immediately if we were out of line or keeping to our social lane.
But you are talking about IRL encounters. I ride a bicycle on the roads so I notice it, but I also notice a lot of niceness.
Or that is I was riding a bicycle until recently when I got thrown by one of those "traffic calming devices" you see all over the place now, those peaked plastic ones that are so easy to throw down and so treacherous to those of us on bicycles.
So now I'm unhorsed and in pain because motorists need continual reminders to calm down.
